Planning and Management of a New Wastewater Treatment Plant

Walker Development was hired as an Owner’s Representative to complete the teardown and construction of a new wastewater treatment plant at the Weston Golf Club. This project took a little over two years to complete, officially operating in January 2024.

Walker made recommendations for the best contractor for the project, which entailed a presentation to the Board. They held weekly on-site meetings throughout the construction phases and were the main point of contact between the contractor and the Weston Golf Club.

With the Weston being an active golf course, the work was conducted with minimal disruption. This took a lot of planning, logistics, and execution from the team. A brand-new leaching system was installed next to the 4th-hole tee box with temporary barriers and strict working and trucking guidelines.

The design of the structure required the coordination of the equipment installation along with the drainage, plumbing, electrical, heating, and backup power.

The Walker team navigated long lead times on electrical gear and multiple generators. The Mass DEP requires the facility to have the ability to run at all times in case of a power outage.
