From Vacant Garage/Maintenance Facility to Functional, Eye-Catching Fitness Center

As part of The Gauge revitalization project in Waltham, Massachusetts, Walker was honored to turn the property’s 1940s garage and maintenance facility into a state-of-the-art fitness center for employees of the office park.

Transforming the old, uninhabited facility into a vibrant, corporate workout center had its challenges. Namely, how to fit the numerous pieces of exercise equipment into the small, 2,550 square foot space.

As with all our projects, safety is number one. Therefore, adhering to gym equipment placement standards was the priority. Proper spacing of each piece of equipment, traffic flow, and consideration for those with disabilities were non-negotiables. Added to this challenge was the numerous tradespeople doing their work, all within this small space. In the end, our client’s goals were met. Every piece of equipment was perfectly placed, the building was successfully transformed, and employees now have the convenience of a modern, on-site fitness center.
